Sessions and Fees

Sessions

Due to COVID, I’m holding most psychotherapy sessions online via a secure telehealth platform. In-person sessions are available by request and on limited basis. Sessions are 45-50 minutes in length.

Fees

Initial phone consultations to determine whether we might be a good fit are free of charge. My standard rate for a 45-50 minute session is $130. Sliding scales are available on a limited basis.

Fees are payable at time of service via credit/debit card only. Prior to your first session, an authorization to bill your card will be required. Please note that your card will not be charged unless you authorize payment for the session, do not pay at the time of services, or if you miss your scheduled appointment or fail to call 24 hours in advance to cancel your scheduled appointment.

Sessions are private pay only, meaning that I do not accept health insurance. This is because health insurance companies often dictate type and length of treatment based on your mental health diagnosis, and they generally require information about your treatment that reduces confidentiality and privacy. As an out-of-network provider, my clients and I (rather than their insurance companies) are able to plan treatment together. This allows for a flexible treatment approach that’s more responsive to your needs and preferences. I’m also able to keep your information completely private and confidential.

Out-of-network reimbursement

It’s very possible that you can still use your insurance plan to help cover therapy costs. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits to help cover costs for medical and mental health providers that are not contracted with your insurance company. Here’s how it works:

Your insurance plan sets your deductible, which is the amount of money you have to pay before you’re eligible for reimbursement. Any health expense you pay out-of-pocket contributes to your deductible, which resets every year. Once you have met your deductible, your insurance company will reimburse you for a portion of your therapy costs.

Making therapy affordable

To ensure that therapy is an affordable financial investment, I offer both a sliding scale and the documentation needed for your insurance company to reimburse you. I also recommend contacting your insurance company to verify your benefits.
